Principal Message
January 29, 2025
Dear Magnet Community,
After thirty-eight years in education, including twenty-eight years of dedicated service to the UCVTS and Magnet community—beginning as a Mathematics Teacher, progressing to Teaching Supervisor, and most recently serving as Principal—I have made the decision to retire on June 30, 2025.
It has been an incredible honor to have been one of the founding teachers at the Union County Magnet High School when it first opened its doors in 1997. Watching the school grow and evolve over the years, along with the district, has been a truly rewarding experience.
Reflecting on my career, I feel immense gratitude for the countless memories and meaningful moments I've had with our exceptional students. They are the heart of this school, and it is because of their dedication and passion that our school community has flourished into what it is today. I will miss them greatly.
I’ve also had the privilege of working alongside an incredibly dedicated and talented faculty and staff, who not only prioritize education but also embody a high standard of professionalism. Their hard work and commitment to our students have made a lasting impact. I am equally thankful to our parents and community partners for their continued support and advocacy, which have played a vital role in our success.
As I move into the next chapter of my life, I’m proud of everything we’ve accomplished together. I’m confident that Magnet High School will continue to grow and succeed in the future. I look forward to working closely with the next principal, once hired, to ensure a smooth transition.
Sincerely,
Alice J. Mansfield-Smith
